Recommendations from someone who has traveled to many places around
Puerto Rico -
by Diane at - http://www.coffeecakes.com/-

Agents/Tour Operators web page -
1. Get an air mattress at Wal Mart with a small foot pump to inflate
it.
We loved our time in Puerto Rico but never had a really comfortable
night's sleep. In the hotels (unless it was brand new), houses and villas
that we rented the mattress was either spongy from the humidity, or worn
out and you could feel the springs. We were often more comfortable
on the floor with blankets.
There are regular Wal-marts in the larger cities if you want to take
a chance, or just bring one along - they don't take up too much room and
at the worst they are great to take to the beach for sunbathing.
2. Diving in Rincon is spectacular. Rincon is nice because
most people speak English. Desecho island has beautiful scuba and
snorkeling all around -
We liked Taino divers (named after an ancient civilization on Puerto
Rico) - They were very professional - went with them on an introductory
dive, where you didn't have to be certified to try out diving -
We also dove with "Mr. Marlin". Not as professional, and not
recommended for beginning divers as he went fishing while we were down
there (as new divers) but when the marina entrance got silted in, his was
the only boat that could get out because it was a flat bottomed boat, none
of the other dive companies could even get out until the dredge got there
(and on Puerto Rico time, nobody knew when that would be).
Also recommended is Paradise Scuba in La Parguera, southwest side of
the island. They don't speak much English there but the town is quite
fun. There's a boardwalk area and bars that sell drinks and food.
The only folks that do speak English are the ones who want you to go for
a ride on their Glass Bottom Boats. Paradise scuba took us out, bending
over backwards to get us all on the same trip which was comprised of: All
English speakers (not all instructors/dive masters spoke English well),
1 person getting his scuba certification, 2 people who wanted to just go
diving and 3 people who wanted to go snorkeling - and all wanted to go
together. We took 2 boats out and 1 boat back (the scuba instructors
left early, leaving the scuba divers (us) to go snorkeling with the rest
of the clan), that with lunch and all equipment. The divers had 3
dives and the snorkelers saw 5 different places. Highly recommended.cruiseweb.com
