- http://www.vagabondgourmet.com/ - It is such a guilty pleasure to admit the smell of duck fat is something I long for! Perhaps never was it more delicious than returning to our village a warm summer day in July. Our Vagabond Gourmet trip to Dordogne just happened to fall over Bastille Day and the tiny village of Biron, where we resided, was holding a celebration. The entire village had a slight haze of smoke and you could hear the sound of the fat hitting the _catch_ pan where soon hundreds of pounds of potatoes would be added to roast before the feast. It would be true to say that we did in fact enjoy a truly remarkable gourmet tour thanks to Vagabond Gourmet - www.vagabondgourmet.com/ -

- Welcome to the Middle Way Meditation Village, a sanctuary for meditators in the midst of picturesque hills and mountainous scenery of Chiang Mai. At the village, you will find and learn one of the world's simplest and most effective methods of meditation and live in a beautiful, comfortable environment. You will also receive personalized guidance on meditation that best fits your unique character from experienced teaching monks. We name our meditation village after an ancient concept in meditation, the Middle Way, which Lord Buddha referred to as the path that leads to enlightenment. In terms of meditation, it means taking the middle path or the center of the body to reach a desired destination or goal--whether it is a serendipitous solution to a problem, a creative insight into life and living, or even freedom from emotional suffering. more details from http://www.meditationthao.org

Actually i was deeply impressed to see such a wonderful castle of Radzivill in Nesvizh and listened to some incredible stories about ghost of Black Lady of the Castle or treasures of the Lord Radzivill. And the city isn't so dirty or full of drunks as it is usual in Russia. A pitty, i couldn't find any good links of this city in english. Just this one http://www.nesvizh.de/.

- We are a group of students from Belgium and we were in Belarus for three months to learn Russian and it was great. We met a lot of interesting people, with whom we did a lot of excursions. There are a lot of beautiful sites that are definitely worth seeing! Odyssey-Tour (www.belarusvisit.by) provided a great service and helped us to organize different excursions, such as to Mir – Nesvizh and Polotsk. It was a great opportunity to get acquainted with the Belarusian mentality and people. We visited a lot of great sites, such as a monastery, a couple of churches,… Everything went smoothly and we never encountered any problems, so in the end we left Belarus with a good feeling. Belarus has a different culture. Here are some specific characteristics of the country: The people all live in apartment buildings. At first sight they seem kind of distant, but if you get to know them a little better they are really nice, friendly and hospitable. Therefore don’t be scared by first impressions, but make some effort to get to know the people and you will never regret your trip to Belarus. We went by airplane from Brussels. We flew only for three and a half hours and the service on the plane was excellent. We made a stop in Warsaw and from there we went straight to Minsk. There is an hour time difference (in Minsk it is one hour later then in Brussels). Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions on Minsk, or if you just want to find out about Belarus in general. We might provide you with some useful information.
- Chiangrai - Golden Triangle, Northern Thailand.
boshem@hotmail.com
- THE GOLDEN TRIANGLE – NORTHERN THAILAND. The name evokes an impression that illicit drugs are the activity of this area. Yes, it was once a notorious place. However, with strict enforcement by various countries particularly the United States and Thailand playing an important role of eradicating the drug menace by educating the many hill-tribes to have a permanent settlement instead of the slash and burn to grow sustainable crops except the poppy plants. Schools were built to educate their children on the Thai curriculum and welfare. Chiangrai is 785 km north of Bangkok and is in the midst of mountains and hills. Across the great Mekong river is Myanmar and Laos, thus the name “Golden Triangle”. All nationalities can cross over to these countries easily by road, boats or air with valid passports and visa. Being the first to establish into a city by King Mengrai of the Lanna Kingdom, it has many ancient ruins. There are many activities you can indulge like visiting the only handcrafted White Temple in Thailand; the ever changing flowers in the most beautiful botanical garden; Hill-tribe, Opium or the National museum; elephant riding; shopping for foodstuff; clothing; jewelries; handicrafts or ride on a long propeller boat on the Mekong river; explore the natural rock formation and caves with spectacular formations e.g. Big Cave, Fish Cave. Of course, if you are a nature lover freak, go to the mountains. Doi Tung – it has a sacred hilltop Buddhist shrine built in 911 AD and it is believed that the left collar bones of Lord Buddha is enshrined in the twin pagodas. On your way up, enjoy the panoramic view then drop in to visit the Akha and Lahu hill-tribe village famous for their hand woven textiles and silver jewelries. Not satisfied with one mountain? Venture to Thailand’s little Switzerland, the Doi Mae Salong, incidentally “doi” means mountain. It sits on an elevation of 6000 feet above sea level. The air is cool and refreshing throughout the year. The settlers are ethnic Chinese descendants of the KMT nationalist army who took refuge in Thailand to escape from the Communist forces of Mainland China more than 50 years ago. The settlement has its own Christian churches, Buddhist temples, schools, locally produced oolong black tea, shops and restaurants. You are welcome to experience first hand the local foods, way of life and customs of the Northern Thai. If you have enjoyed reading this article, please forward it to a friend.
